who could give me the advice about weight losing by cycling
Posted 9 months ago by zhuqi888About 8 years ago, when i was 21 yeas old, i took some special medicine (cortin ) for the illness caused by fundus hemorrhage of my eyes. I became a fat boy. I now am 85 kg with 170cm. I try to make physical exercise to lose weight. I ride cycle twice every working day and the total distance is about 27km. it cost me about 1 hour. But now I have no professional instruction from any physical training coach. Could you give me some advice about physical exercise by cycling training?thanks a lot.

Hello, zhuqi888! All I have is anedotal evidence. I started commuting to work on my bike in July, first for only about an hour a day - I took a bus for part of the distance. In late September, I committed to biking the entire distance which ends up being about an hour and 35 minutes a day (except weekends). My strength and endurance definitely increased more rapidly with that extra 35 minutes.
As far as weight loss, I've heard other cyclists say that it takes a good 3 months of solid cycling before any weight loss happens and I believe this to be my experience. Until this week, in fact, I was getting a bit annoyed that all my biking was making me incredibly fit, but not really changing my body size. Finally, this week, I noticed some pretty significant size difference when measuring myself (I don't use a scale, I use a tape measure!).
My advice is to stick with it, bike as much as you can, and enjoy the fitness you will gain immediately. Have patience about any weight loss, it will happen, eventually, but probably not right away. This is my experience, anyway. You could, of course, speed things up by assessing your diet. I've not paid a whole lot to that part of the equation - I want to think that biking an hour and a half a day is enough, already!
I'm not an expert, but I hope my personal experience is helpful to you!
When I first started riding, I combined easy rides (30-40 minutes, at 12-15mph, never more than like 10 miles), with a reduction in calories and I lost about 30lbs over 5-6 months. Not really expert advice, but there's not really any "secret" to it either. Less calories + more exercise = weight loss.
I should also add that as I started cycling more seriously, I found it harder to actually lose weight while doing it (although I was certainly much more fit).
thanks for your personal advice! I would stick with it.
