Feel free to introduce yourself here. I'll start...

I've been living in Oregon for about 3 years. I moved out here from NJ (my wife is getting her phd from the U of O). The place we moved into is right on the wonderful riverbank paths in Eugene and even though I hadn't ridden a bike in something like 15 years, I couldn't *not* take advantage of the bike paths. So two years ago I went out and bought a cruiser, and last year I upgraded to an honest-to-goodness road bike. Rode my first century late last summer and haven't looked back since.

I met tmundal from a local group ride and he told me about this place. Nice site! I think I'll stay! I've been riding for a year and a half and I'm looking forward to making cycling a lifelong activity.

Hi-

I've had an old Centurion Lemans in my garage gathering dust for the last year. I've never been serious about cycling, but I definitely enjoy riding in Oregon. Thanks for starting this group! I hope I see you on the road.

peace,

J

Hi all. I've just arrived with the metafilter rabble, but am also an Oregon cyclist. I've had a cruiser for a couple of years and not ridden it much -- fair weather cyclist that I am, it tended to get put in the basement when the rains came, then stay there -- but I've been trying to make more a habit of it this summer.

Weendure is proving to be a helpful motivator to ride daily, even though my brief commute and odd errands about town will never suffice to compete with serious century-riding sport cyclists. It's nice to put up numbers, no matter how small. The real test, of course, will be how I do when the weather's not so great any more... historically, that's where I lose my momentum, if only because rain gear is so damned unpleasantly unbreathing.

Hey, all! I, too, was washed in with the MeFi tide. I just do my daily ride to work--nothing very ambitious, but it sure makes the day bearable.

Hello! I live with Mumkin, my he-mate — he introduced me to this site. I've been trying to commit to cycling my commute from North Portland to Sellwood and this site is really helping! I tend to overdo it and burn out, keeping track of my time here has helped me absorb the truth of "pacing."

My goals are simply to integrate cycling into my everyday life. I don't like gyms and resist exercise for the sake of exercise.

I'm in love, some might say to the point of obsession, with my old Raleigh 3-speed.
