Bragging Rights

Posted about 1 year ago by lavandowska

I've just got to toot my own horn a little bit: yesterday I shaved two minutes off my last commute time; today I beat that by three minutes!

My goal is to commute to work (16.6 miles) in under an hour, and I'm down to 1:13:38 when my first ride was about 1:30 (before I began wearing a watch) after 6 regular trips.

What have you got to brag about today?

I've been watching your commute times drop and you are making serious progress, congrats. Just a quick question before I do my best "brag".

What are you using for a bike, and do you have pedals that let you clip in with shoes to match? I have a buddy who has been doing some serious biking and great strides in times with a nicer bike but when he built his own fixed gear bike with clip in pedals he said he really got far better workouts and times on all bikes dropped fast.

So my bragging, well I did my longest run since injuring my ankle and being out for a month. 3 miles with a slow but steady pace and a moderate 80%+ heart rate.

I've finally been biking regularly. It helps that the weather has turned from rainy to warm. A couple weeks late, even for Portland, but still...

Also, tomorrow I get to run again! :)

I've got an old Raleigh with regular pedals. I'm not confident enough in traffic to try clip-ins yet.

I had a 1:07:00 time last week, but since I'm back to my average of 1:12:00 or so.
