So, does anyone have any better details about this situation?

I mean, there are some obvious questions.. What in hell did he need 3,000 bikes for? That is years of supply for even a busy used bike store, I'd think.. Any operation that can go through more than a thousand bikes a year would absolutely have to adopt an efficient warehousing scheme. That isn't the impression I get when I read about the garages full of bikes these articles talk about.

Anyway, apart from academic curiosity, I'm wondering if there is any chance that a bike stolen 3 or 4 years ago might be there. Obviously this stash represents a small portion of bikes stolen in the city each year, so in that sense it would be pretty hopeless, but..
