Back in the saddle again.... Legs were tired after this run - I needed a nap!! But, the run itself felt good. It was nice to just do a junk run with no goal other than to run. I suspect it will be a few more days until fully recovered from Hood to Coast.

Thanks for your note. I would like to get you on the "friend" list, but don't seem to know how to do it. Perhaps if you e-mail me directly we could converse more easily kt5x @ cybermesa.com put LONN in subject area so I know it isn't spam... Glad you had a good time in the Hood to Coast. My son did it years ago on the Adidas team and loved it, but was exhausted afterwards. They were second to Nike. I am a retired coach: when you train, your adrenal glands ratchet up output, initially when you rest into a major event, the adrenal output of cortisol jumps up, and afterwards as you rest and recover, cortisol output plummets. During this period, immune system goes down, you are especially prone to injury and illness (I have just caught a cold ten days after Pikes). The prescribed pattern is to take a week fully off (transition) after the event, then a week of very light training returning to previous intensity levels slowly across several weeks. How long depends upon just how severe the effort was for you.
