The run was fine. Nothing to write home about. But I had one of those great, planetary alignment moments which made me forget pretty much all of the run except the last half a mile.
Normally, when I run out of Central Park and head home, I have to tackle 5 or 6 cross streets. This gives me a chance to have mini-breathers while I wait for the lights to change. It's cheating, really.
But today, I came out of the park, and Jose Gonzalez "Heartbeats" came on. You know, the song from the Sony Bravia commercial?

It's not your typical run music. Real change of pace actually. But it was perfect for what happened next. As I would approach each corner at the end of each block, the light would change. There was no need to stop.
This happened once, twice, three times, then i i hit some sort of zen moment. Up ahead runners were just out, running, like they were part of my soundtrack. Some went north, south, west. I saw them all, and again, came to the end of the block and the light changed. All the way home...
Such a great, surreal moment.
