Posted in the club ride calendar as the Hollister Mini Death Ride, the turn out was great, thanks to coaxing from my friend Julie. She was responsible for half of the total 16, and the rest were from the club. I knew that a couple riders had not planned on doing the entire ride.

The mini version of the Hollister Death ride, includes 9-10 mile climbs up both Quien Sabe and Lone Tree Roads, with the Cienega Valley loop in the beginning. We had one rider who had a minor mechanical issue, slowed us down to the first regroup at De Rose Vineyards. Then a flat shortly after the first lunch stop, from the same rider.

So.. I never made it to the top of Quien Sabe, once everyone else came down, I turned around. Another rider has his tire come off the rim (we think it was caused by a thorn and was going low on air) so that put 2 of us behind again.

After the second lunch stop, when we had 2 more flats, and it was after 3:30 when we were leaving to go do Lone Tree, I knew that I was going to have to head back early, so I climbed until 4:45, then headed back to the house.

There were eight riders who did complete the entire ride though, and everyone enjoyed the post-ride BBQ and potluck and the spa too.
