The last day and a relatively easy 60 miles. We decide to regroup en mass at the lunch stop, so we can all ride in together. Bill will be there for our official arrival this year, so I am looking forward to seeing him.
Traffic isn't too bad as we leave Ventura, onto Oxnard and get onto PCH and the first rest stop at a DOT Pullout.
There are a number of small climbs today, Pt Mugu, Leo Carilla, Zuma Beach, Escondido and Pepperdine which brings us to lunch at mile 45.8. The last 15 miles are for the most part on PCH, very busy, cars on all sides, one decides to attempt a 3 point turn in front of Roger, which I cannot believe (neither could Roger.)
In Santa Monica, you have to walk your bike through an underpass to cross under PCH, with 4 miles to go and the last climb of 0.3 miles.
Shortly before the VA Center, our arrival point, we stop at, where else, but a Starbucks for coffee and to wait for Bart to rejoin us.
And so we do the final few blocks, finishing 550+ miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Well, I knew it was inevitable that someone would take my #1 spot!
Welcome to the site. I am enjoying reading about your rides. I tend to use the "note" field as more of a journal as well - writing small books.
I think you met your goal for this year - maybe revise it to 10k? ;-)

Welcome indeed! I was thinking the same thing - 6500 for the year already? *Very* impressive!!
Gman, I wish I could say my mileage for the year was 6400+, actually it's only close to 2500.
That total mileage is from Jan '05 via an import (I could have imported back to 2003, when I first started cycling.) There was a problem with the import though and none of the ride time, except the seconds imported, so one day at a time, I am updating the events, working on one month at a time.
I noticed the time on your imported entries was a bit messed up. Would you mind sending me a snippet of the import file, so I can track down the problem? My email is joshua@weendure.com.
Sorry for the inconvenience, hopefully we can find the problem so others don't have the same trouble!
wow, i have to admit i'm kinda glad to read this explanation LOL i thought we were all REALLY being shown up ;)
cheers, and welcome!

ps. Gman, i'm coming for you :D
heh, one thing I'm considering is changing the overall chart on the homepage to be overall this year. Once I get groups done anyway! Soon! My todo list for groups is down to 5 or 6 things, my goal is to have them ready for testing by this weekend.
I had something similar happen when I imported my log. I kept it in an excel spreadsheet, with hopes of developing my own web training log, but then I found this site...
Anyway, when I imported time, all I got were the hours and nothing else. I looked at the import and the field mappings and I could see that it was specifically looking for a separate hour, minute and second field. I went so far as to go through my spreadsheet, separate that all out, and import it again. Still, though, it imported only the hours. The mileage was correct, so Ijust went through about 8 or 10 a day and adjusted the time. After a week or so, it was all accurate.

Excellent job. Sounds like a great ride, I'm glad you're writing about it here!
Nice job on the finishing the ride.. :)
After all that you're still hitting the Giro this weekend? That's some staying power
Well, let's just say I'm giving the Giro a shot! There's about a dozen from my club doing the ride.
I have done Mt. Hamilton Challenge with more climbing (last year) and this should be doable.
Have heard that even though its supposed to be quite hot tomorrow, that the climb back from the coast is up Tunitas Creek, and is shaded.
Wish I had a few rides in since returning from the 7 days, but that just hasn't worked out. With it being 98F in Hollister, yesterday, I bailed on my planned ride of 30 miles in the afternoon.
Oh, and I will have the complete 7 day route uploaded to MotionBased over the weekend, or can email a GoogleEarth kml file to anyone interested.
