been off the bike for the better part of nearly two weeks due to an accident. Leg's still not feeling 100%, but I've gotten fed up with feeling soft so rode out this morning. had to turn around at Harvard Square after realizing that I left my badge and wallet at home. Gotten out of the usual routine of packing for the commute the night before.
Otherwise, the ride was good. Quiet and slow but good.

wiped out on some black ice last night and bruised my knee, so taking it easy today. This is likely to wrap up my year then. Had hoped to break 6000 miles for the year, but the autumn has been ... distracting

evening plans to see Throne of Blood at the MFA were waylaid but surprise illness. Wound up wandering Cambridge checking in on film options at the Kendall, Harvard Square and Brattle theatres. Didn't find anything of interest and just got dinner at Charlie's Kitchen before heading home. September's been a bit of brutal month at work, so a quiet evening was sort of in order.
Sitting next to me at the bar in Charlie's was a happy drunken Irishman giving his Chinese neighbor a lecture on western tattoo culture using our h0tt heavily inked bartender as his prime subject. The bartender studiously ignored him most of the time except when he yelled, "it's okay, gorgeous, I like the nights when you're surly. It gives me something to work up to."
That got a smile from her.
